Curtin University Centre for Crop and Disease Management

The Centre for Crop and Disease Management (Building 304) at Curtin University’s Bentley Campus is a new three storey research facility consisting of QC2 and QC3 laboratories, workspaces, shared facilities and a café.

Our experience in delivering complex research facilities and laboratories was a defining factor in Curtin University’s decision to appoint us as its Managing Contractor to deliver this state-of-the-art research facility.

We were appointed on an ECI basis to collaborate with Curtin University and a team of consultants to refine the design, create trade packages, procure subcontracts on an open book basis, develop the programme, and establish a fixed price contract; whilst construction works commence.

The new facility was built in an operating university campus and adjacent to a primary bus terminal, lecture theatres and exam venues.

The site was extremely constrained and all construction activities were carefully coordinated with university operations and exam timetables to minimise disruption and inconvenience to staff, students and visitors.

Given the complexities presented by the site and the building design, this was an extremely challenging project that we are proud to have delivered for Curtin University.

The Centre for Crop and Disease Management won the special mention award for Best Building Fit Out at the 2017 Master Builders - Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards.
